Barn Rules

  • These rules have been designed to keep both people and horses safe, so we can all have fun and enjoy riding!
  • Please be aware that while horses are loving animals they are still very large and can be unpredictable. It is important that everyone be alert and aware when working around horses. Please be mindful of anything that may spook or scare a horse such as sudden movements and loud noises.
  • Parents with small children who are not in a lesson – it is of the utmost importance that your child is closely supervised to prevent any accidents. While the instructor is teaching they cannot also supervise other children.
  1. Regular barn hours are 8:00 am to 8:30 pm
  2. No running in or around the barn
  3. No smoking in or around barns or arenas
  4. Please leave all dogs at home
  5. All riders (meaning anyone who sits on a horse) must sign a release form – NO EXCEPTIONS
  6. Helmets must be worn by all riders at all times – NO EXCEPTIONS
  7. Never stand directly behind any horse
  8. Never kneel or sit on the ground while grooming.
  9. Horses are not permitted to pass one another in the aisle without expressed permission.
  10. All tack, grooming equipment, and supplies must be put away neatly in designated areas.
  11. All debris and manure from your horse must be swept up with a broom and shovel and placed in the wheel barrow or the green much bucket in the center of the aisle. If your horse leaves a pile of manure it is your responsibility to clean it up.

  15. Do not handle anyone’s horse, tack, etc. without permission from that person.
  16. Please do not enter the arena through the glass door in the lounge. It could hit or spook a passing horse.
  17. Before entering the arena please call out “door” loudly, so as not to spook any horses that are already in the arena.
  18. Parents and visitors are welcome to observe students during their lesson by standing or sitting in designated areas. Parents and visitors should not enter the arena without specifically asking.
  19. Boarders are welcome to ride during lesson times. However, students always have the right-of-way. Beginner students have the rail no matter what and more advanced students will pass left shoulder to left shoulder.
